There are a lot of settings that can be changed to allow for different requirements and personal preferences.

 
 

General tab

 
   
 

Automatic Text Formatting - Formats all the text boxes and text placeholders to the correct format. This settings is reset every time you open PowerPoint.

 
 

Automatic Repositioning and Resizing - Repositions all the text boxes and text placeholders to the correct position. This setting is reset every time you open PowerPoint.

 
 

Placeholder Already Exists - Displays a message box to tell you that the current placeholder either cannot be inserted or cannot be modified. This will be useful initially but maybe worth switching off once you are familiar with how the new placeholders work.

 
 

Cannot Convert Placeholder - Displays a message box to tell you that the current placeholder cannot be converted into the placeholder you have selected from the toolbar.

 
 

Display New Presentation Dialog Box - The "New Presentation" dialog box will be displayed every time you open PowerPoint.

 
 

Hide Task Pane - Permanently hides the Task Pane giving you more room to work. You must untick the "Show at startup" checkbox which appears at the bottom of the task pane before changing this option.

 
 

Combine Bullets and Numbers - Allows to combine both bullets and numbered bullets in the same textbox.

 
 

Sequential Numbered Bullets - Automatically changes any indented numbered bullets to run in sequence regardless of their indentation level.

 
 

Coloured Text - Allows you to use the shortcut menu to quickly change the colour of your text.

 
 

Refresh 'Manual' Slide Numbers Automatically - Updates the slide numbers automatically whenever you insert or delete slides.

 
 

Annotation and References - This will add the "Slide - Annotation" and "Slide - Reference" placeholders to the Text Placeholders drop-down on the toolbar.

 

 

Slides tab

 
   
 

Automatic - This used automatic page numbers that start from the 2nd slide.

 
 

Manual - This lets you define the starting slide for the slide numbers. This can be useful if you want to include a contents page. This should be used if you have more than one section in your presentation.

 
 

Refresh - This refreshed all the manual slide numbers in your presentation.

 
 

Slide Show - This is the default presentation type and should be used when a presentation will be presented as a slide show using a computer.

 
 

Paper Printed - This type of presentation should be used if the presentation will be used as a handout and will not be presented on the screen.

 
 

Refresh Slide Titles - This obtains a list of all the slide titles in your presentation. This can be useful when you want to include a contents page.

 

 

Toolbar tab

 
   
 

Save your Toolbar Position - Saves the exact position of the toolbar so it will be there the next time you open PowerPoint.

 
 

Hide Formatting toolbar - Permanently hides the Formatting toolbar so you do not get confused with the bullet point and indent buttons that appear on both toolbars.

 
 

Bold button - Includes the standard Bold button onto the Template Wizard toolbar.

 
 

Italics button - Includes the standard Italics button onto the Template Wizard toolbar.

 
 

Underline button - Includes the standard Underline button onto the Template Wizard toolbar.

 
 

Left Align button - Includes the Left Align button onto the Template Wizard toolbar.

 
 

Center Align button - Includes the Center Align button onto the Template Wizard toolbar.

 
 

Right Align button - Includes the Right Align button onto the Template Wizard toolbar.

 

 

Template tab

 
   
 

Template Name - This is the name of the template that is used by the active presentation.

 
 

Template Location - There is no need to change this directory.

 
 

FileName - This lists all the PowerPoint templates that are in the current directory.

 
 

Template Extensions - Indicates which of the extension tools are currently being used.
