Creating New Presentations |
Once the template is installed the next time you open PowerPoint you will see an additional toolbar and the New presentation dialog box will be displayed.
The first button on the Template Wizard toolbar lets you create a new presentation. |
![]() | Create Presentation - Creates a new presentation and displays the New Presentation dialog box. |
The new presentation dialog box is displayed every time you create a new presentation. |
![]() |
This dialog box lets you enter the title, subtitle and date for your presentations.
Your last 10 titles and subtitles are saved automatically and added to the drop-down lists.
The date defaults to today's date but can be easily changed using the drop-down button.
Press OK to create the corresponding title slide for your presentation.
If you leave the title and subtitle blank then placeholders will be added to the title slide letting you add them later. |
Editing Slide Title Information |
All the information can be easily changed once you have created the title slide.
It is possible to add (or amend) the slide title and subtitle at any point. |
![]() |
You can leave the title and subtitle boxes blank on the "New Presentation" dialog box if you want to and add them later.
This will place the corresponding placeholders on the title slide allowing them to be completed later.
The date can also be edited manually or you can delete the whole text box and insert a new text placeholder “Presentation Date” using the first drop-down box in the Template Wizard toolbar. |
Slide Thumbnails |
You may find it useful to display the slide thumbnails when you are creating a presentation.
Slide thumbnails are displayed in the Slide Sorter view, but it is also possible to display them when you are in Normal view.
This can be done by pressing F6 twice. The slide thumbnails task pane should appear on the left hand side.
This window may or may not be displayed when you first open PowerPoint. |

Slide Task Pane |
You may find it useful to remove the Task Pane altogether This can be done by selecting (Tools > Options)(View tab, “Startup Task Pane”).
You are probably all familiar with the task panes, especially the task pane for inserting new slides.
You can also remove the checkbox “show at startup” at the bottom of the task pane and then close the task pane.
Once you have done this you can also select (Options > Settings)(General tab, "Hide Task Pane") to ensure you never see the task pane again.
This template wizard removes the need to use the task pane for inserting slides. |
Things to Remember |
The "New Presentation" dialog box is displayed by default every time you open PowerPoint. It is possible to remove this by selecting (Options > Settings)(General tab, "New Presentation when PowerPoint open"). |
