Why are there new Slide Layouts ? |
There are a wide variety of different types of slides that can be used with this template. | ||
All existing slide layouts can be used and new ones can be easily created. | ||
It is now possible to insert new slides using the additional toolbar. | ||
The dependency on the rather annoying task pane has been removed giving you more space on the screen. |
How to insert the new Slide Layouts ? |
You are probably familiar with using the task pane to change the slide layout and to insert new slides. | ||
This template removes the need to use the task pane for inserting slides. | ||
The new way to insert slides is to use the drop-down list on the right of the toolbar. | ||
The drop-down box on the right of the toolbar displays the slide layouts which you can insert. | ||
Just select the slide layout you want to insert and press the button immediately to the right of the drop-down box. |

You can also use the Thumbnails shortcut menu as well as using the Slide Sorter shortcut menu. |
Types of Slide Layouts |
Title Only - This type of slide can be used when you have not decided exactly what to put on the slide. Placeholders can easily be easily added later so this type of slide is extremely useful. | ||
Title and Text - This type of slide is the traditional one used for a lot of slide show presentations. | ||
Title and 2 Text - This type of slide can be used when you have more points to make, but want to display less text, maybe as a summary before going into more detail on subsequent slides. |

Charts and Tables |
The functionality for creating and working with charts and tables is greatly enhanced with two additional tools. | ||
There are dedicated toolbars for both these tasks and for more information please see the relevant sections. | ||
The Chart Format Toolbar is a dedicated tool for creating, formatting and positioning Excel charts. | ||
The Table Format Toolbar is a dedicated tool for formatting tables perfectly to any size and in any format. |

Section Title |
This type of slide should be used to divide sections within a presentation. | ||
You should also use the coloured bars along the bottom to emphasis the different section. |

Things to Remember |
New slide layouts cannot be inserted when you are in Slide Sorter view or Notes view. | |||
You can insert new slides in the Slide Sorter view and from the Slide Thumbnails shortcut menu. | |||
You should not use the Task Pane for inserting your slides. | |||
It is possible to quickly insert duplicates of your slides by selecting (Insert > Duplicate Slide). | |||
You cannot edit your text using Outline view. |
