IMCONJUGATE(inumber)

 
 Returns the complex conjugate of a complex number in x + yi or x + yj text format.

 inumberThe complex number you want the conjugate of.

 REMARKS
 
  • In Excel 2007 (and later) this function has been removed from the Analysis ToolPak add-in and is available as standard.
     
  • In Excel 2003 this function is only available when you have the Analysis ToolPak add-in loaded.
     
  • In Excel 2007 the format returned by this function has been changed so that the imaginary part is displayed in consistent scientific notation.
     
  • If "inumber" is not in the form x + yi or x + yj, then #NUM! is returned.
     
  • You can use the COMPLEX function to convert real and imaginary coefficients into a complex number.

     EXAMPLES
     
     A
    1=IMCONJUGATE("3+4i") = 3-4i
    2=IMCONJUGATE("3+4j") = 3-4j
    3=IMCONJUGATE("3") = 3
    4=IMCONJUGATE("4i") = -4i
    5=IMCONJUGATE("3+4k") = #NUM!
    6=IMCONJUGATE("some text") = #NUM!
