How to Find The Error ? |
There may be times when Excel cannot evaluate a formula or function and when this happens an error value will be returned.
Your formulas almost always refer to other cells which then may subsequently refer to other cells etc etc.
It is very easy to trace the origin of an error using the Trace Error feature.
(Tools > Formula Auditing > Trace Error).
SS - command |
This feature will visuall step through all the cells that are referenced by this formula.
Excel draws blue lines from the formula cell to cell cell that this cell references.
If a referenced cell contains a formula and that formula also contains an error then a red line is drawn.
To view the cells that a second formula references you can select the Trace Cells options again. |
If you are still not able to find the origin of your error you can edit the cell to display the colour coded formula arrows. |
