Step 1 - Inserting Data |
There are several ways you can insert more rows and columns: | ||
1) Using the (Table > Insert Rows) menu. | ||
2) Using the (Table > Insert Columns) menu. | ||
3) Using the Table shortcut menu. | ||
4) Using the Tab key. |
Step 2 - Using the (Table > Insert Rows) menu |
This will insert rows above the row that is currently selected. |

Step 3 - Using the (Table > Insert Columns) menu |
This will insert columns to the left of the column that is currently selected. |

Step 4 - Using the Table Shortcut menu |
You can also right click and use the shortcut menu to insert more rows and columns. |

![]() | Insert Columns to the left - Adds a new column to the left of the column containing the insertion point. | ||

You can use any of the Insert commands on multiple rows and columns at a time. | ||
When you have a number of rows and columns selected PowerPoint will automatically insert the same number of rows or columns | ||
For example if you select two columns and choose "Insert Columns to the left", two columns will be inserted to the left of the selected ones. | ||
Select the same number of rows and columns as the number you want to insert. | ||
Simply select more than one cell (row or column) before selecting the command. | ||
PowerPoint will insert the same number that are currently selected. | ||
For example if you select two columns and choose Insert Columns to the right, then two new columns will be inserted on the right. |
Step 6 - Using the Tab key |
Using the tab key when you are in the last cell will insert another row. |

Step 7 - Things to Remember |
You are unable to insert individual cells into your tables. You must insert whole rows and columns and then merge the necessary cells. | |||
Pressing Enter starts a new paragraph in the same cell and does not move you to the next cell. | |||
Inserting additional rows and columns will increase the size of the table and the table could run off the slide. | |||
You can easily insert more rows and columns than actually fit on the slide. If this happens you can select the outside frame to resize the table accordingly. |
