Step 1 - Inserting Clip Art |
There are a number of ways you can insert clip art into your presentations: | ||
1) Using a Clip Art Placeholder. | ||
2) Using a Content placeholder. | ||
3) Using the Clip Art Task Pane. | ||
4) Using (Insert > Picture > From File). |
Step 2 - Using a Clip Art Placeholder |
Select the placeholder | ||
One advantage of using the clip art placeholder is that it will be automatically repositioned if you change the slide layout. | ||
Double click the placeholder |

The "Select Picture" dialog box will be displayed. | ||
Type in a keyword and press Go to find all the matching clips. Select the clip you want and press OK to insert. |

Import - Displays the "Add Clips to Organiser" dialog box allowing you to browse to a graphics file on your hard drive and add it to the Clip Organiser. |
Step 3 - Using a Content placeholder |
You can also use a content placeholder | ||
Single click the placeholder. |

This will also display the Select Picture dialog box. |
Step 4 - Using the Clip Art Task Pane |
Just select the clip to insert it or use the drop-down arrow and select "Insert". | ||
If there is no placeholder on the slide then the clip art is placed in the middle of the slide. | ||
Select (Insert > Picture > Clip Art) to display the clip art task pane. | ||
Type in one or more keywords and press Go to find all the matching clips. |

Another way to quickly display the clip art task pane is to select the Insert Clip Art button on the Drawing toolbar. |

Step 5 - Using (Insert > Picture > From File) |
Selecting (Insert > Picture > From File) displays the Insert Picture dialog box. | ||
This is a great method for inserting graphics from previous version of Office or for graphics you do not want to add to the Clip Organiser. | ||

Another way to quickly display the Insert Picture dialog box is to select the Insert Picture button on the Drawing toolbar. |

Step 6 - Things to Remember |
One advantage of using the clipart placeholder is that if you change the slide layout the clipart will be repositioned automatically to the new clipart position. | |||
If you want the clipart to appear on every slide then you should add it to the master slide. | |||
You can still use the (Insert > Picture > ClipArt) even when you have a placeholder. Just select the edge of the placeholder frame before selecting (Insert > Picture > ClipArt). | |||
You can also insert a picture or bitmap into PowerPoint using the clipboard. |
