Using the Office Clipboard |
Before an object can be moved it must be selected. | ||
Once selected, click and drag the object using the left mouse button to the new location | ||
or you can use the arrow keys |
If you hold down the shift key in PowerPoint 2003 it will constrain the movement to vertical and horizontal only. |
To move an object click anywhere on the outline box (not on a handle) and drag the object. |
Using (Edit > Cut) |
There are several ways you can cut the current object and place it on the clipboard. | ||
1) Using the (Edit > Cut) menu. | ||
2) Using the shortcut key (Ctrl + X). | ||
3) Using the Object Shortcut Menu and selecting Cut. | ||
4) Using the Cut button on the Standard toolbar. |

When you cut your data and place it on the clipboard the data does not actually disappear from its original location (until it is pasted). | ||
This can actually be a useful feature as it allows you to cancel the operation by pressing the Escape key. | ||
When you cut a object the object will disappear. |
Using (Edit > Copy) |
There are several ways you can copy the current object and place it on the clipboard. | ||
1) Using the (Edit > Copy) menu. | ||
2) Using the shortcut key (Ctrl + C). | ||
3) Using the Object Shortcut Menu and selecting Copy. | ||
4) Using the Copy button on the Standard toolbar. |

Using (Edit > Paste) |
There are several ways you can copy the current object and place it on the clipboard. | ||
1) Using the (Edit > Paste) menu. | ||
2) Using the shortcut key (Ctrl + V). | ||
3) Using the Object Shortcut Menu and selecting Paste. | ||
4) Using the Paste button on the Standard toolbar. |

Dragging Objects |
You can drag and drop objects to quickly move them. | ||
If you want to move several objects then you should select them all first before dragging or you can group them. |
If you select an object and move the mouse the pointer changes to ??? |
