Check your Options

Text Placeholders have an AutoFit feature that is enabled by default.

If you type more text than will actually fit in a placeholder PowerPoint will automatically display the AutoFit Options smart tag.

Check your (Tools > AutoCorrect Options)(AutoFormat as you type tab) to change these options.

SmartTag is Always Displayed

There is no way to prevent the AutoFit Options smart tag from being displayed.

If you choose to switch both these options off you will still get the AutoCorrect Options smart tag displayed.

The following option (Tools > AutoCorrect Options)(AutoCorrect tab, "Show AutoCorrect Options buttons") does not affect this smart tag.

Displaying the Smart Tag (Title Text)

The drop-down menu appears in the bottom left corner of the text box.

AutoFit Text to Placeholder -

Stop Fitting Text to this Placeholder -

Control AutoCorrect Options - Displays the (Tools > AutoCorrect Options)(AutoFormat as you type tab)

Displaying the Smart Tag (Body Text)

This will appear automatically when there is too much text to fit into the placeholder.

The drop-down menu appears in the bottom left corner of the text box.
