What is the Task Pane ?

 
 

This is new in Word 2002. It removes some of the earlier dialog boxes and combines these features into a single pane.

 

   



 

Step 2 - New Document

 
 

This task pane will contain any recently used templates.

 
 

 Open a Document - Displays the last 4 files that you opened.

 Blank Document - Creates a new blank document

 Blank Web Page -

 Blank E-mail Message -

 Choose Document - Creates a copy of an existing document, opening it as a template. A number is appended to the end of the file name.

 General Templates - The General Templates option will open the standard (File > New) dialog box.
