What is IRM ?

Information Rights Management (IRM) is a document focused protection service available in Word 2003.

This feature works in conjunction with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or the .NET Passport Service.

IRM is designed to help protect sensitive information from being accicently seen or used by unauthorised users.

IRM protects the actual content of a document and not just access to it by means of a file system.

Using IRM

Information Rights Management lets you control who can access the document and what each user is capable of doing with that document.
